Makayla Swygert selected as

National Top Teen

    Each year, National WMU (Woman’s

Missionary Union) selects a small group

of outstanding young women to represent

Acteens through the National Top Teens.

The group is selected based on strong

involvement with and dedication to Christ

and missions, as well as strong leadership

and service in church, school, and

community.
     In January 2012, National WMU announced that Makayla Swygert is one of this year’s three National Top Teens. As Top Teen, Makayla will represent WMU at meetings across South Carolina and write for SC WMU’s newsletter and Facebook pages. Makayla will also serve on this year’s SC WMU State Youth Panel.  Makayla served as SC Top Teen in 2010 and is currently serving as a SC WMU State Panelist. 

     Makayla is a Junior at Laurence Manning Academy where she is a member of the Anchor Club, History Club, and Beta Club.  She is also Vice President of the National Honor Society and Co-Chaplain for Student Council.

2012-2013 Registration Information

       Please also be aware that registration information for the 2012-2013 school year will be mailed to you around February 15th.  The re-enrollment period for current students will end on March 15th, so please get you child’s registration information to the school Finance Office by that date.  If you need additional forms, please contact the Finance Office as well.

National Honor Society Inductions 2012

   LMA inducted its inaugural class of the National Honor Society at the school’s chapel program on Wednesday, January 25, 2012.  Fifty-nine students make up the inaugural group.  Sophomores, juniors and seniors with a 4.0 GPA automatically qualified for organization. Those students with a 3.75 GPA qualified academically, but had to apply for acceptance. A selection board made up of LMA faculty members evaluated the applications and chose the candidates that displayed the character traits and service experience that best matched the organizations standards.

LMA Bowling Team takes Runner-Up in Championship

   The defending 2011 SCISA State Champion Bowling Team (boys) finished as Runners-Up of the 2012 SCISA State Championship.  The girls team finished in 5th in their division.    Congratulations!!
